ENIMATIK: DESIRES

With the hot summer comes a new Enimatik song, well, not only that. Also a new singer who joins the musical project after a fascinating story. Do you want to meet her?

Everything has been so strange and at the same time so exciting. After releasing Inmortal, which I hope you liked a lot, Enimatik set out again to create a different, more aggressive, harder song. I had a rough idea in my mind of what I wanted, so I started working in the studio.

Desires took shape quickly, first at composition stage and then in terms of its initial structure. It was going to be a song, at first, with just a few vocal tracks of my own voice, but I didn't intend for them to be the protagonists. I wanted to add some phrases to the choruses, maybe some loose ones in the choruses, nothing more. But everything changed over the course of one night...

Suddenly, a mysterious girl started following me on the Enimatik Instagram account. I looked at her profile and wow, I was amazed. A beautiful, gothic, alternative and dark model, her name was Nana. I quickly followed her and began examining his photos. OMG, it was beautiful, super sensual and with the dark vibe that I like so much, which fits so well with Enimatik. I have to confess that I spent a couple of days thinking that either Nana had made a mistake or she was simply going to unfollow me shortly, she had thousands of followers, and she followed very few accounts 😀

But it wasn't like that, and the fact is that, as I progressed in my work on the new song, and I continued to admire the vibe of her photos, as you can imagine, something occurred to me that I didn't have much hope for. I thought I would contact Nana and ask her if she would like to be the image of Desires. I did it and waited a few days with no response. I had already lost hope, and with great disappointment I thought that perhaps I simply would not have a chance. But one night... 🌒

Nana responded to my messages and wow, she accepted my proposal. With kindness, sincerity and gratitude. Everything was starting to connect. I made a first small selection of their photos and we quickly got to work selecting one for the cover of Desires and several for the promotional campaign. I wanted us to get to know each other a little better, given her cordiality and kindness, she seemed like a very nice and honest girl to me. After telling her more deeply about the Enimatik project and about myself, it was her turn. And then it happened.

Nana told me that, apart from liking dark and gothic stuff, photography and alternative music, she also sang a little. Oh my god, what was this???

In the midst of my surprise, Nana told me that she could indeed sing, plus her husband, Sergei Krishtofovich was a sound engineer, guitarist, and they had a studio in their house!! I didn't hesitate for a second, and I asked her if she would like to sing in Desires, I had nothing to lose. As you can imagine, she happily accepted my proposal, and not only that, Sergei offered to record some guitar tracks for Desires. Can you ask for more???😊

Desires has been, without a doubt, the most complex song in terms of mixing and production for me. After she accepted my proposal, I sent Nana the musical base so she could have references when recording their vocal tand guitar tracks. I had to add more lyrics to the song and tweak the chorus melody, but I was really excited about the song.

The next day I found a message in my email from Nana with the files, how quickly, I felt that she was also excited. When I imported the tracks into my sequencer, I was amazed by its quality, the recording was very good, you could tell for sure that it was made in a professional studio. Then came a long and laborious job, since I had to edit, process and mix more than twelve vocal tracks along with the musical base, which also included great electric guitar tracks. Complex doesn't describe it enough 😅

The guitar tracks are great, I didn't want to include al of them in Desires, they are for more than just a song. And Nana's voice shows that she is trained to sing, perhaps not yet at a totally professional level, but at a very advanced level. Perfect in time, tone and with the ability to make variations, so cool. What a discovery, right?

I have really enjoyed producing the song, it has been decades since I mixed an instrument that was not electronic, and it has been really endearing. I think the electric guitar in Desires gives the song a very cool character and presence. In the end I think it is an unclassifiable song in terms of its style, I think there is darkwave, electro, dance, technopop... and precisely this I think gives it originality and appeal. Desires is a song which has evolved quickly and deeply since its original conception, a new female voice has been added, electric guitar tracks, lyrics... the challenge has been enormous for me but I think the effort has been worth it. They have been nights of hard but rewarding work, I can assure you...

Nana by herself

"I am originally from Ukraine. My hobbies: taking photographs, walking through the evening and night forests (I really love nature, more than people, reading books, writing and performing songs (I like listening to music anytime and anywhere), I like to travel, I’m into beauty make-up, I volunteer for animals, I love oriental culture and tea ceremonies.

I am a very melancholy introvert by nature, but I also open up as an extrovert to a few people.

My style, like my soul, is gothic, vampiric, alternative, nostalgic and full of a mystical, dark melancholic atmosphere. I also have a love for metal and rock music, since school I was informal and listened to alternative, rock, later came gothic, doom and grunge. And even later heavy metal, thrash, progressive, etc.

I don’t exclude ambient (different types), chillout, mantras from my playlist. This music brings a completely different meaning and shows a different me.

Nana (this is a derivative of my name), my nickname is Dark Wild Angel. Dark because I am attracted to everything connected with a dark mystical atmosphere and direction (mainly style and music). Wild angel - because in life I am a wild and energetic person, but at the same time very kind (this is also connected with my favorite childhood TV series, in which my favorite character completely personifies me).

My favorite genre of music is doom, post-punk, gothic metal, black metal, heavy (progressive, thrash, folk), ambient (also dark ambient). Favorite bands that are associated with me and led to a love for my creativity and taste: Type o Negative, The 69 Eyes, Deftones, Sister of Mercy, Fields of Nephilim, Black Sabbath, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Doro Pesh (Warlock), Rammstein, Pantera, A Perfect Circle, FFDP, Godsmack, Alcest, Dark Tranquility, Kalmah & many others.

Music is the personification of my soul, music is a part of me, without it it would be too empty. She means a lot to me, and perhaps I would like to connect my activities with her.

I learned about Enimatik from a blogger girl who also collaborated with them, and when I went to the page I was fascinated by this music, listening to the songs one by one. I was captivated by the music with its dark, passionate and sensual atmosphere.

I love Nana's style. Deeply. As you can see in the photos in this post, apart from her natural beauty she has an impressive dark, sensual and gothic aura. I feel that she expresses nicely a dark side which we all have, that struggles to come out, to expand. For me she is simply captivating. And I think Enimatik has expanded his range of sounds/styles with her kind incorporation in this first collaboration 😉

I want to sincerely thank Nana and Sergei for their kindness and great willingness to create Desires together. I think I have discovered a hidden talent, at least for me, and I hope to help it see the light...
