The hot summer is coming to an end, and there's nothing better to celebrate than a new song. Well, more like a remix of the first song that Enimatik has done with the awesome Dark Wild Angel, Desires.
As you can see in the previous post on the website about Desires, the collaboration with Nana and Sergei Krishtofovich was fluid from the first moment. They were so kind, so collaborative, that everything was fast and inspiring. When they asked me to include guitar tracks on Desires, Sergei sent me such a quantity of inspiring tracks, of such quality, that the idea instantly arose among all of us to make a remix. It would have been a shame not to take advantage of such great recordings right?
As I always do, when starting the remix project, I loaded the previous Desires project into my sequencer and deleted practically everything except Nana's vocal tracks amd a little bit more. Sergei's guitar tracks were already loaded in their entirety but those that were not included in the first version were muted. And when I dismutated them... 😎
One of the things I like most about making remixes is creating new chords and melodies already having defined vocal tracks. It's really cool to see how, by conserving so little, you can create so much. I think the essence of a remix, of any song, is to try not to improve, but to create a new and different perspective on the original idea.
My sequencer and I had a really good time producing the remix, even though it was a lot of work. Nana's vocals have remained practically as they were, just some details in the form of effects or slight changes in some parts in terms of Eq. But the new guitar tracks have been the center of the work.
Combining electric guitars with electronic kick drums and bass requires a lot of attention, since the low and mid frequencies tend to overlap. By accurately using Eq, compression and panning, I think I have achieved a very clear and crisp mix of these elements. Sergei is really a very talented guitarist, I have loved working on his recordings, integrating them into an electronic music song has been a challenge, but at the same time a freak. I think it turned out well, right? 😏
As for the vocal tracks, I have reduced my presence a lot compared to the original version, I think that the prominence in the remix should go mainly to Nana and the guitar tracks. I want to emphasize again Nana's talent for singing, she naturally sings perfectly in tune, she is capable of recording her own choruses with variations and improvising tracks. She seriously has to believe it...
As you know, Enimatik has no ties to specific styles or sounds, that's the good thing about being an independent artist 😂. Therefore, in the remix I have been able to mix synthwave-style arpeggios and solos with distorted guitars, or ambient pads with dark electro leads. One of the things I like most when creating music as Enimatik is the freedom, doing what my musical inspiration tells me, without any other ties than consistency with the style I have chosen.
It's not easy for me to categorize the Desires remix in terms of specific styles. Techno/dreamwave/metal? I really don't know, and I don't really think it's relevant either. Others with more knowledge than me regarding the classification of musical styles will tell me, the important thing for me is that listening to the original version and the remix is very cool to me. I think that since the beginning of the Enimatik project back in 2020, I have improved a lot in terms of my mixing and mastering skills, as you know I had been away from today's modern and cool software tools for quite some time, and it has made me It took a while to get to know them in detail.
As for the visual aesthetics of the remix, it turns out that Nana, in addition to singing very well, being charming and collaborative, also has a special talent for photography. The photographs you see in this post belong to the promo campaign on socials, and as you can see, damn, they are amazing. I am convinced that photography, apart from music, is a release from routine daily life for Nana, a way to express her creativity, her hidden artistic talent.
Not only do they show a beautiful girl, they carry with them a dark, enigmatic and sensual look which I find fascinating. In color, in black and white, it doesn't matter, they seem made for the songs, I find them inspiring and fucking cool. The gothic and sexual atmosphere they create in my mind fits perfectly with my musical creativity, they fill me so deep...
I wanted to end this post by thanking Nana and Sergei again for their kind collaboration and willingness, and the talent, the added value, they have brought to the two songs. Honestly, the process has been amazing for me, from the first follow on socials, to the sending of the guitar and voice recordings, to being able to get to know each other a little despite the distance.
I feel very happy seeing how Enimatik is gradually growing over the years, incorporating unknown talents, collecting kind collaborations, adding good people to my circle of contacts. I cannot express in words the feeling it gives me to know that Enimatik's music is heard all over the world, that there are people from distant countries who appreciate the effort and talent that not only I, but other wonderful people, have put into it.
My intention of course is that Dark Wild Angel never abandons me artistically...
