TERMINAL LUCIDITY DEPORTED STOOGES REMIX

Less than three months ago, Enimatik dropped its first collab with my friend Kristen Kadence. Together we created Terminal Lucidity, a track we’re both super proud of and that’s been getting some serious love in the dark underground scene. Well, about a month ago, someone reached out to remix it, and that remix is officially out now. Wanna hear the story behind it?

Deported Stooges

"Blurring the lines between noise and the hypnotic architecture of techno, the sound of Deported Stooges emerges from the same dark corridors as Nein Records, carrying the DNA of the label's avant-garde legacy with acts such as Epidemia's ambient, glitch noise complex and convergence of ELECTROVOT's futuristic sounds of synthetic warfare. Deported Stooges is no stranger to the underground curation of music for the hours when the warehouse lights flicker and the bodies refuse to cease movement. Not polished. Not polite. Just voltage, concrete, and the beautiful decay of the machine..."

Deported Stooges

Behind these enigmatic words hides a project straight out of Mexico, blending darkelectro, EBM, and futurepop. Kristen has a super close bond with them, and the second they heard the original mix of Terminal Lucidity, they instantly pitched the idea of dropping a remix.

Needless to say, accepting the proposal from Deported Stooges was an easy call. They’re an experienced band with a top-tier sound and a real footprint in the underground scene. Honestly, Kristen and I were on the exact same page and couldn't wait to hear the remix. In the end, I just gave it a light master to keep it consistent with the Enimatik discography and ensure it flows with the rest of the tracks. A little EQ, a slight boost to the stereo width, and a subtle touch of reverb on the master bus did the trick. I think the final sound is devastatingly powerful, we’re all obsessed with the result.

The remix

The vibe of this remix is aggressive, punchy, and raw, a dark electro, EBM, Future pop track. To me, it retains the mysterious and esoteric character of the original version while pushing the track to the next level. Deported Stooges did an incredible job, breathing new life into a song that wasn't originally conceived to be remixed. As you know, Enimatik is no stranger to reimagining its own tracks and those of other artists; I’ve always loved remixes because they offer a second life, or a whole new dimension, to the music.

Tapping into new creative avenues that simply weren't considered for the original cuts adds so much value. Ideas left behind, instrumental versions, fresh sounds or FX, that magic moment when you change just a few notes or chords and the track completely shifts... The remix process is fascinating, and when a song you crafted with a friend gets reworked by a respected, top-tier band, the satisfaction is unmatched.

Finally, big thanks to Deported Stooges for their interest in remixing Terminal Lucidity. It’s been an incredible ride for Kristen and myself.
