After a wait a little longer than usual, Enimatik is pleased to publish a new song. I'm sure that those who like the more relaxed and chill side of Enimatik will love it, for the rest I only ask you to listen to it because I think it's a song that you can identify with at some point in your lives...
The inspiration.
After releasing Enimatik's first album, Black ritual, I wanted to create a song which will explore my more romantic and tender side in musical creative terms. With influences from styles such as wave or chillstep, When you meet someone is an electronic ballad, an ode to the romanticism and tenderness whch are sometimes hidden inside us, covered by the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. I assume you understand what I mean, right?
The initial idea was to create an intimate, emotional song, with lyrics that were not too complex, but deep. A song which was capable of transmitting, or rather, provoking feelings, bringing back memories, experiences. I think that the combination of lyrics and music in the song has achieved this goal, at least for myself.
The creative process was somewhat peculiar, because I usually start composing the music and then combine and generate ideas for the lyrics. In When you need someone the process has been the opposite. First I wrote a few verses with the idea of creating a romantic song in mind, and then, after getting a basic structure, I started with the musical composition itself.
When you meet someone is a new collaboration with my dear Tanya. Her visual creativity never ceases to amaze me, since it seems that her talent for photography goes beyond capturing simple images. She creates art, captures and inspires sensations, she masters the photographic technique with great skill, and her imagination is capable of seeing the hidden, the beauty behind seemingly anodyne landscapes and places.
For the cover and promotional campaign of the song we chose several photographs from a large group on which we worked. Photos which, as you can see in this post, are endowed with a personality and charm that really amazes me. Natural, urban, nocturnal and inspiring places, all of them in a a beautiful compilation. I think the result has been fantastic...
The musical part.
I think that something very necessary for anyone who wants to compose music is not to have prejudices or be too much tied to specific styles. Throughout my life I have tried to listen to all types of music, of any style, looking for special songs and artists, which inspire me. Although Enimatik is an electronic music project, I have played keyboards in pop-rock bands, in classical formations of guitars, bass, drums and keyboards. I have been to quite a few live concerts, I have appreciated creativity and talent regardless of the style or designs of the music industry at a specific time.
All of the above comes to mind because I think this new song is a mix of influences, reminiscences, and styles. When you meet someone combines, in my opinion, elements of classic pop ballads with chill synths, wave/phonk rhythmic bases in some segments, ethereal and quite processed vocal tracks, future bass sounds... I think all of this is combined into a very harmonious whole, lasting more than five minutes, with a lot of work behind it... 😉

Thanks to special offer campaigns last Black Friday 👀, I have been able to get several new fx and virtual instruments plugins, from different companies, which I really think have been good purchases. It took me a little while to integrate them on the new song project and learn their features, but wow, they are fantastic. 😛
I have been able to process the vocal tracks in a more comfortable and creative way, achieving in my opinion a very good result within the limitations of my home studio. I have also been able to add inspiring sounds, especially several atmospheric pads which give the song a very cool and dreamy character. By the way, the evolution of music production software over the years is really noticeable. Both the fx and dynamics plugins and the latest generation virtual instruments are fantastic tools, which, together with modern DAWs, make infinite creative possibilities available to anyone who makes the effort to learn how they work.

I want to thank Tanya again from here, it is a wonderful feeling to be able to create art together despite the great distance that separates us. She is so kind, so empathetic, there is such a good vibe between us, that everything flows naturally. I remember how not too many years ago, this was literally impossible, due to the limitations of technology and communications. It's something I'm deeply proud of, and passionate about every day, every time I begin the process of creating a new song.
For me it is very gratifying to be able to collaborate with an artist like her, to have the feeling that Enimatik is expanding and enriching with our collaboration. I think that When you meet someone, thanks to Tanya´s art, is more than a song, it is a joint artistic expression in several senses.
